Falkland Islands airline to use BAe 146

A report in Flight indicates that a new airline based in the Falkland Islands will start operations in April using a BAe 146-100 wet-leased from Australia’s National Jet Systems (NJS). The 146 would be operated from Mount Pleasant Airport on East Falkland to São Paulo, via Montevideo. It would fly primarily in support of the oil industry, but the airline also hopes to negotiate a franchise operation with British Airways. The 146 would later be replaced by a Boeing 737-200.
