BAe 146-200 G-MANS (msn E2088) has been purchased by Manx, who had been leasing her from BAe-AMJ. G-MANS is being operated by Manx subsidiary British Regional Airlines on British Airways franchise flights.
BAE Systems delivered twenty-one Avro RJs during 1998, including ten RJ85s to Mesaba, three RJ100s to CityFlyer, six RJ100s to SABENA, and two RJ100s to Crossair. The deliveries included the 100th RJ built, an RJ85 built for Mesaba.

British Airways has taken over Gatwick-based Avro RJ100 operator CityFlyer. CityFlyer already operates as a British Airways franchisee, in full British Airways colors. The airline will continue operating as a indipendent company. CityFlyer operates five RJ100s, and has two more on order.

BAe-AMJ sold BAe 146-200s D-AEWD (msn E2069) and D-AEWE (msn E2077) to Lombard Leasing GmbH, part of the Lombard Asset Finance Group, for more than US$22 million. Both aircraft continue on lease to Eurowings until March and April 2004. The sale brings AMJ’s BAe 146 portfolio to 89 aircraft.
A new Italian airline, Assofly Airlines, is considering using up to five BAe 146-200s on charter and scheduled flights from Pisa and Roma Ciampino. “Asso” means “ace” in Italian, but the airline may wish to rethink its name if it plans to fly to English-speaking countries.
