SN Brussels and Virgin Express merger cleared

Competition authorities in Belgium and the European Union have cleared the merger of Avro RJ and BAe 146 operator SN Brussels Airlines and low-cost operator Virgin Express. Both will become subsidiaries of SN Airholding. The two airlines will remain separate, but routes and timetables will be harmonized beginning from this summer’s schedule. SN Brussels Airlines carried 3.2 million passengers in 2004. SN Brussels operates 14 Avro RJ85s, 12 RJ100s, and 6 BAe 146-200s.
