SN Brussels Airlines has decided to retain its fleet of BAe 146s and Avro RJs. The airline had been examining options to replace the type on its shorthaul European services. After an extensive study of the available options, however, it concluded that keeping the Avro RJs was the most cost-effective solution. The airline has agreed a sale and leaseback transaction with BAE Systems Regional Aircraft covering 23 of its 26 RJ85s and RJ100s. BAE Systems Regional Aircraft will acquire the aircraft in stages over the next five years and lease them back to SN Brussels Airlines. The other three RJs are on operating leases until 2009. The airline also operates six BAe 146-200s.
