A new airline based in the Faroe Islands, FaroeJet, is leasing a former Turkish Airlines Avro RJ100 from BAE Systems Regional Aircraft. The RJ100, OY-FJE (msn E3234, ex TC-THB) was delivered to the airline in mid-May. FaroeJet is planning to operate between Copenhagen and the capital of the Faroe Islands, Vágar, in competition with long-time BAe 146 operator Atlantic Airways. The approach into Vágar requires flying down a narrow fjord and then making a dogleg onto the short runway, making the BAe 146/Avro RJ ideally suited to operations there.
