A CityJet BAe 146 operated on behalf of Air France burst its tyres on landing at London City on 20 February, blocking the runway and closing the airport for most of the day. BAe 146-200 EI-CZO (msn E2024) was landing at 08:35, after operating AF5020 from Paris Orly. Several tyres burst when the brakes were applied, and the aircraft came to rest near the end of the runway. None of the 55 passengers and five crew on board were injured. With the runway obstructed, the airport had to be closed and inbound flights diverted to other airports. It took most of the day to recover the aircraft from the runway. The airport finally re-opened at 17:05.
