South African airline Airlink is planning to lease three BAe 146s from BAE Systems Regional Aircraft. The BAe 146 was selected over the Fokker 100. The first aircraft for Airlink, former Flybe series 200 G-JEAV (msn E2064), was painted at Norwich on 16 March. She will eventually become ZS-PUL. Another former Flybe series 200, G-JEAW (msn E2059), will follow as ZS-PUM. Airlink is in negotiations with the government of Botswana to take over Air Botswana, which operates two BAe 146-100s. Safair was the only previous operator of the BAe 146 in South Africa.
