A new airline being started by Iraqi Kurdish interests, Mesopotamia Air, is apparently planning to operate a BAe 146. Former Atlantic Airways BAe 146-200 OY-RCZ (msn E2041), who was recently returned off-lease to Tronos, was seen at East Midlands on 1 June wearing Mesopotamia Air titles and tail logo. Mesopotamia Air is planning to fly regional services from Sulaimaniyah Airport in Iraqi Kurdistan, as well as services to Europe. They had announced plans for an April-May start-up. OY-RCZ, however, departed East Midlands for Canada, suggesting that the lease may have fallen through.
