Last spring, Pyrenair indicated it planned to operate two Avro RJ85s on routes from to Huesca, in northeastern Spain. In the event, the company postponed starting regular operations until the end of the year. In the meantime, it organized a series of ad hoc charters, with a wide variety of aircraft leased from various carriers. The company’s inaugural flight, using a GirJet Fokker 100, left Huesca on April 14 carrying a handball team to A Coruña. For the winter ski season that began on December 5, the company has similarly resorted to contracting aircraft from various operators, with BAe 146s of Orionair included in the mix. Pyrenair is offering flights to Huesca from A Coruña, Valencia, Madrid, and Lisboa. Services are flown on Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays, to cater for either week-long or weekend skiing vacations, and can be booked either as seats alone or as part of packages that include lodging and ski tickets.
