Another Indonesian airline has selected the BAe 146/Avro RJ family. PT Riau Airlines of Pekanbaru, on Sumatra, has signed a lease agreement with BAE Systems Regional Aircraft for two Avro RJ100s. Riau Airlines is owned by the goverments of Riau and neighboring provinces. It currently operates Fokker 50s on routes within Sumatra and neighboring islands, as well as to Malacca, in Malaysia. The RJ100s will take over the busier routes and also open new international routes to Kuala Lumpur and Penang in Malaysia. The two former Turkish Airlines RJ100s, G-CEFW (msn E3243 ex TC-THH) and G-CDRK (msn E3265 ex TC-THO), will be delivered in August 2008, in a single-class, 111-seat configuration. They are currently in storage at Kemble. Riau is the third Indonesia airline to choose the BAe 146/Avro RJ in the last year, after Linus Airways and Aviastar Mandiri. In addition, two VIP-configured examples are on the Indonesia register.
