Riau Airlines grounded over labor dispute

The Indonesian Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has suspended the operating certificate of Riau Airlines after key personnel resigned. The airline’s chief pilot and its manager of operations both resigned in mid July following disputes with management. As these positions are critical for safe operations, on 24 July the DGCA gave the airline 72 hours to resolve the situation or ground its flights. Riau Airline currently operates a fleet of Fokker 50s, but is due to receive two Avro RJ100s on lease from BAE Systems Regional Aircraft in late August.
