Indonesia’s Riau Airlines took delivery of two Avro RJ100s on lease from BAE Systems Regional Aircraft in mid September. RJ100s G-CEFW (msn E3243) and G-CDRK (msn E3265) both departed from Kemble on 16 September. Because all Indonesian-registered aircraft are banned from European Union skies, both departed still wearing their United Kingdom registrations. These were cancelled on 19 September, once the aircraft had reached Indonesia. Both aircraft are former Turkish Airlines, and have been in storage since 2006. The RJ100s operated their first service on 26 September, from Jakarta Halim to the airline’s home base at Pekanbaru, in central Sumatra.
