Air France takeover of VLM approved

Air France KLM’s takeover of VLM was approved by the United Kingdom’s Office of Fair Trading. The approval was conditioned not only on the airline giving up slots on the London City-Amsterdam route, but on a new entrant being identified to use them. As a result, Eastern Airways will begin eight times daily services to Amsterdam from January 2009. VLM will retain its own identity for the time being, but cooperate closely with Air France subsidiary CityJet on services from London City. VLM leased a BAe 146 from Flightline in 2007, but the lease was ended after the takeover by Air France was announced.
