Lufthansa CityLine marks 50th anniversary

CityLine is marking its 50th anniversary with special markings on its aircraft. The airline operated its first service, as Ostfriesische Lufttaxi (OLT), on 17 June 1959. It began scheduled regional services in 1974 under the name DLT Luftverkehrsgesellschaft. In 1978, it began cooperating with Lufthansa, a process which increased over time so that by 1988 all the airline’s operations were on behalf of Lufthansa. Lufthansa took a majority stake in 1989, and eventually acquired the entire airline, which was renamed Lufthansa CityLine in 1992. Avro RJ85s were added in 1994, and the fleet was gradually built up to the current 18 examples.
