Greek Avro RJ operator Aegean Airlines submitted a bid in response to a Greek government tender for subsidized services on 24 commercially unviable routes, primarily to island destinations. Aegean’s bid offered to fly from Athens and Thessaloniki to the islands of Kalymnos, Ikaria, Astypalaia, Skiathos, Skyros, Samos, Chios, Lesvos, Karpathos, and Kythera, using its Avro RJ100s and ATR72s. Aegean operates six RJ100s.
