BAE Systems has announced the sale of an Avro Business Jet (ABJ) to UK-based Gill Group. The Gill Group was founded by Chief Executive and owner Raj Gill and specialises in large airport and motorway infrastructure construction. The ABJ will be used by Gill Group’s newly-formed ‘in house’ flight department, Altivo Jet Services. Gill Group COO Nim Baines said that: “The ABJ offers a very practical and cost-effective solution to our corporate travel needs and we very much look forward to integrating it into our business.” The aircraft involved, BAe 146-200 G-CFDH (msn E2108), was most recently leased to Orionair and has been in storage at Southend. She was delivered to the Gill Group at the end of October, and will be converted to 46-seat executive shuttle configuration by Inflite at Southend. Bristol-based Waypoint Aviation, which advised Gill Group and sourced the aircraft, will project manage the conversion. She is expected to enter service in the spring of 2010. The sale brings to 26 the number of ABJs delivered or contracted.
