Italiatour operating licence suspended

Italy’s Civil Aviation Authority, ENAC, has suspended Italiatour‘s operating licence. The airline has not operated any flights since 21 September, and its sole aircraft, RJ85 I-CLBA (msn E2300), has been in Basel since 27 September, reportedly for an engine change. Although Italiatour had announced that a new schedule centered on Genova would be operated from 30 October, it silently suspended reservations in mid-October: anyone attempting to book flights through the airline’s website would simply find no availability on any date. With Italiatour’s exit from the scene, there are now no BAe 146s or Avro RJs being operated by any Italian airline, for the first time since 1987.
