An Avro RJ100 operated by Riau Airlines was the subject of a bomb threat on 16 March. Avro RJ100 PK-RAZ (msn E3265) had just departed on flight RIU196 from Tanjung Pinang to Jakarta with 54 passengers, when the threat was called in to the airline’s ticket counter at Soekarno-Hatta Airport. As the RJ100 was over halfway to its destination by the time the threat was relayed to it, the captain opted to continue the flight, landing at Soekarno-Hatta at 17:00 local time. The RJ100 was parked on an outlying apron, and closely inspected by the police’s bomb squad. Nothing was found, however, leading the authorities to conclude the call had been a hoax.
