BAe 146 ZS-PUZ will leave Airlink’s fleet when the RJ85s arrive (Andrè Vermeulen)
South Africa’s Airlink has agreed to acquire four former CityLine Avro RJ85s from BAE Systems Regional Aircraft. The four RJ85s (msn E2251 ex D-AVRC, E2257 ex D-AVRD, E2261 ex D-AVRE, and E2285 ex D-AVRL) will be delivered between September 2010 and January 2011. They will replace the airline’s four BAe 146-200s, which will be returned to BAE Systems. Airlink will thus have an eight-strong Avro RJ85 fleet, resulting in operational and cost benefits. Like the airline’s current aircraft, the newly delivered RJ85s will also be enrolled in BAE Systems’ JetSpares program, which provides extensive on-site and pool stock rotable spares coverage. As part of the deal, Airlink is also extending the lease on two Jetstream 41s.
