It has now been confirmed that BAe 146 operations by Gabon’s Nationale Régionale Transport (NRT) ended soon after the collapse of African Airline Investments (AAI). AAI had been operating BAe 146-300 ZS-SOP (msn E3187) on behalf of the Gabonese airline. Like other AAI 146s, ZS-SOP had been operated under the AOC of Lanseria-based Airquarius. With AAI defunct, NRT offered to cover the crews’ salaries if they continued flying, which they did. After ZS-SOP returned to Lanseria for a C Check on November 30, however, NRT reneged on the deal, and so the 146 did not return to Gabon.
