South Africa’s Freedom Air has acquired one of the BAe 146s orphaned by the collapse of African Airline Investments (AAI) last last year. At the time, series 200 ZS-SOV (msn E2077) had been operating for Cronos Airlines in Equatorial Guinea, under the AOC of Lanseria-based AirQuarius. She returned to Lanseria in January, and was offered for sale through AirQuarius. Following a C Check in May, she was purchased by Freedom Air, who exhibited her at the Wonderboom Airshow on June 12. Lanseria-based Freedom Air operates charter flights with a variety of aircraft, ranging from light single-engine piston aircraft to corporate jets. The BAe 146 is their largest aircraft.
