Cello to add a second BAe 146

Birmingham-based Cello Aviation has announced its intention of adding a second BAe 146 to its fleet. Cello has been operating since July 2010 using series 200 G-RAJJ (msn E2108) in a luxury 47-seat configuration. Since then, the airline has built a strong following among high-end charter clients, including sports teams and car manufacturers. In early June, for example, it flew the Irish national football team to the Euro 2012 tournament in Poland and Ukraine. Cello’s chairman, Raj Gill, ascribed much of the company’s success to the 146. “The advantage of this plane,” he said, “is that it can operate into runways which are as short as 3,800ft. It means we can pick up and take customers from some of the most challenging airports in the world. We can get our clients to where they want to be.”
