Spanish start-up planning BAe 146 fleet

A new Spanish airline, Islas Afortunadas Air, is proposing to operate a fleet of up to ten BAe 146 and two Airbus A320s from its base at Las Palmas, in the Canary Islands. Operations could begin later this year, connecting Las Palmas with destinations in Europe and North Africa. The airline would adopt a low-cost model. Islas Afortunadas (‘fortunate islands’) is a nickname for the Canary Islands.
