Air France has reached an agreement to sell its CityJet subsidiary to Intro Aviation. Under the agreement, which is expected to close in the first quarter of 2014, Intro will pay an undisclosed sum to take over CityJet, as well as its subsidiary VLM. Cooperation with Air France would continue. Although details of what this would entail were not provided, it seems likely that it would mean that a codeshare arrangement, rather than the prior franchise arrangement. CityJet has already shifted to using its own code. CityJet operates 22 Avro RJ85s, while its VLM subsidiary operates 12 Fokker 50s. Intro Aviation has frequently bought poorly performing airlines and turned them around, including Deutsche BA and LTU (both eventually sold to Air-Berlin).
