Pleased with the results of its BAe 146 operations, Jota Aviation is planning to add an Avro RJ85 to its fleet. Jota Aviation acquired BAe 146-200 G-SMLA (msn E2047) in August 2013, and put her into service in October of that year. She quickly proved popular, flying over 800 hours by the end of that year. Now Jota is acquiring RJ85 G-CHFE (msn E2294 ex OO-DJT) from Falko Regional Aircraft. A former Brussels Airlines example, she was stored at Kemble since February 2012, and then at Cranfield from June 2015. She was registered to Jota Aviation as G-JOTR on 12 January. She is currently undergoing a C Check with Avalon Aero at Cranfield. She is also being fitted with enhanced avionics, including TCAS 7.1 and PRNav. She will be configured with a 95-seat layout, but could be reconfigured into a 50-seat layout for smaller groups. In addition to providing increased capacity, the RJ85 will also open up additional markets to Jota thanks to its greater range.
