Airlink‘s Avro RJ85 ZS-ASZ (msn E2318) was involved in a hijack alert on 11 July. She was en route from Cape Town to Wonderboom on flight SA8678 when her transponder emitted a hijack alert. After landing at Wonderboom, the RJ85 was held on a taxiway and the 72 passengers and four crew members were held on board for several hours as authorities investigated. After the transmission was found to have been erroneous, the passengers were finally allowed to deplane.
