Aviro Air BAe 146-300 YR-AVR landing at Cardiff on 3 June (Alex Rankin)
BAe 146-300 YR-AVR (msn E3193) has returned to Greece and is once again flying for previous operator Astra Airlines, whose all-green colors she is still wearing. Romania’s Aviro Air acquired YR-AVR from Astra in 2015. Aviro Air began operating YR-AVR on behalf of Astra on 26 May, under a contract that should run until early October. YR-AVR is based in Thessaloniki and operates domestic routes to Heraklion and Rhodos, but occasionally takes some time out to operate charters, such as a roundtrip from Milano Malpensa to Cardiff on 3-4 June with football fans going to watch the UEFA Champions League final between Juventus and Real Madrid (the Milanese fans were probably quite glum on the return, as Juventus lost 1-4). YR-AVR had operated for Italian virtual airline PeopleFly from mid-December to early January, but that agreement was then suspended. YR-AVR remained in Italy, however, and operated a variety of ad hoc charters. Astra also still operates another 146-300, SX-DIZ (msn E3206).
