As in previous years, CityJet operated a special “Santa Express” flight for young patients from Temple Street Children’s Hospital and their families. This year’s flight was operated by Avro RJ85 EI-RJH (msn E2345) on 15 December. EI-RJH had been based in Paris to operate on behalf of Air France, but returned to Dublin as AF1116 on 13 December for maintenance — though it first operated a roundtrip on the airline’s own route to London City as WX126/127. The 30 young patients from Temple Street Children’s Hospital and their families were met at Dublin’s Terminal One for pre-departure activities including carols, face painting, and games. They then boarded the RJ85, which had been adorned with a glowing red nose and reindeer antlers for the occasion. The Santa Flight took off from Dublin at 12:09 local time, and returned an hour and half later, at 13:42. A few hours later, she returned to France as AF1117 to resume flying for Air France.
