Swedish airline Braathens Regional Airlines (BRA) has indicated that it intends to withdraw its Avro RJs from service during 2020. Although the airline had ordered Bombardier CS100s and CS300s (now Airbus A220-100s and -300s) as replacements, this order has been repeatedly pushed back and now looks unlikely to ever be taken up. Instead, BRA plans to focus its fleet on the ATR72. The smaller, more fuel-efficient aircraft are thought better suited to Swedish domestic operations, where passenger loads have been under pressure due to rising fares and increased concern over the climate impact of air travel. BRA currently operates two RJ85s and seven RJ100s.
