Pionair‘s contract to operate BAe 146-200QC VH-SAZ (msn E2148) on behalf of New Zealand’s Parcelair came to an end on 17 August. VH-SAZ had been operating in New Zealand since 10 July, helping to cover capacity shortfalls due to two of Parcelair’s three Boeing 737-400F freighters being down for maintenance. During this period, she usually flew two roundtrips between Auckland and Christchurch every weekday night: Parcelair 31/32 in the evening, and Parcelair 33/34 after midnight. On her last night, she operated a single roundtrip on the route, departing as Parcelair 31 in the evening of 16 August and returning as Parcelair 32 after midnight. Later that day, she left New Zealand, crossing the Tasman Sea to Sydney and then continuing on to Bankstown after clearing customs.
