BAe 146-300 G-JEBE (msn E3206) of Jersey European Airlines (JEA) was damaged at Birmingham on 7 May, when her right main undercarriage fell into a hole in the taxiway. The hole was supposed to have been filled and covered with a steel plate but was only covered with a weaker plate. The 146 came to rest on its number four engine, damaging the pylon and possibly the wing. None of the 120 passengers and crew on board were injured. With its usual accuracy, the media reported this as an “undercarriage collapse.”
