Atlantic Airways, the airline of the Faroe Islands, is adding another BAe 146, boosting its fleet of the type to four. The airline is leasing former Malmö Aviation series 200 msn E2115 as OY-RCW. The airline flies scheduled services from its base at Vágar to Copenhagen, Billund, Reykjavik, Aberdeen, and Stavanger, and seasonally to Oslo and London. The addition of a fourth BAe 146 will enable it to increase frequencies to Copenhagen, Billund, and London and its oil industry charters. The airline started operations in 1987 with a single BAe 146, and has gradually built its fleet over the years. Approaches at Atlantic’s base at Vagar require flying down a fjord then making a dogleg onto a short runway, conditions under which the BAe 146’s capabilities shine.
