NJS begins shift to Boeing 717s

National Jet Systems has begun to receive the Boeing 717s that are to replace its BAe 146s on QantasLink services. The 717s are being transferred from Qantas’ low-cost subsidiary, JetStar. The 717s will gradually replace the 146s, with the last of the latter scheduled to leave the QantasLink fleet in late 2006. NJS will continue to operate 146s on its own account, primarily for mining industry support flights. The 146 is the only jet capable of serving many airstrips in Western Australia. NJS also operates three 146QT freighters for Australian Air Express.
