The last former Ansett BAe 146 to be stored at Melbourne’s Essendon airport was flown out on 27 September. Series 300 ZK-NZH (msn E3137) had been parked at Essendon since 22 February 2002, along with several other former Air New Zealand and Qantas New Zealand BAe 146s which had been returned to Ansett’s administrators. During her stay at Essendon, she suffered damage to the No 4 engine pylon in a storm that hit the airport on 2 September 2002. The ferry flight from Essendon to Melbourne Tullamarine, which was conducted under a special flight permit issued by the New Zealand CAA, took a scant 11 minutes.
