Northwest confirms plans to withdraw its Avro RJ85s

Mesaba has stated that it has been informed by Northwest Airlines that the entire fleet of Avro RJ85s it operates on behalf of Northwest Airlink is to be withdrawn from service. Mesaba has already parked nine of the 35 RJ85s in early November, although two of these have since returned to service. Although Northwest had initially instructed Mesaba to park the entire fleet by year’s end, the remaining aircraft will now remain in service until the second half of 2006. They will now be withdrawn between May and December.
