BAE Systems Regional Aircraft announced an increase in its efforts to market the BAe 146/Avro RJ into the corporate and executive aviation market. The company believes the 146/RJ has a clear niche in the corporate/VIP aviation market, given its unmatched airfield performance and stage 4 noise compliance. For the price of a mid-size business jet, customers can obtain an airliner-size cabin that can operate into difficult and remote airfields. Recent 146 sales to the executive market include an Avro RJ70 and an RJ85 acquired by Royal Jet and an RJ100 acquired by Ford. During this year’s National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) Convention in Orlando, Florida, BAE Systems announced it had appointed Mr Andy Whelan, who has previously worked with Raytheon Aircraft Company, Harrods Aviation, and Jet Aviation, as a new Sales Executive to further develop this market. Corporate aircraft sales in North America will be handled by Mr Art Rink, who has worked for many years at Regional Aircraft’s Herndon office, near Washington. Moncrief Oil’s BAe 146-100 N114M (msn E1068) was on static display at the NBAA show.
