Minor incident for MDLR RJ70

An Avro RJ70 operated by MDLR Airlines suffered a minor but embarassing incident when it burst several tires on landing at Kullu’s Bhuntar Airport on 26 April during a proving flight. Other than to the tires, there was no damage to the aircraft, nor any injuries to those on board. Nevertheless, the incident was embarassing to the airline, as ten members of Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) were on board. The minor nature of the incident did not stop the local press from having a field day. “Trial run ends in disaster” headlined one newspaper, while another spoke of “a miraculous escape”. MDLR were due to begin daily Chandigarh-Kullu-Delhi and return flights two days later, but pushed back the start date.
