Finland’s Blue1 has leased Avro RJ85 EI-RJL (msn E2349) from CityJet for one year, with an option to extend for a second year. She was ferried to Norwich on 12 February for painting, and departed to Helsinki on 6 March in full Blue 1 colors as OH-SAQ Inarijärvi. A little over a year ago, Blue1 decided to return three Avro RJ85s and two RJ100s, shrinking their Avro RJ fleet to four RJ85s and concentrating their operations on their McDonnell Douglas MD-90s. The airline later decided to keep one of the RJ85s, but proceeded with the return of the others. With passenger numbers falling due to the current economic crisis, however, the MD-90s are proving too large. Blue1 attempted to retain their remaining RJ100, OH-SAN (msn E3387), but BAE Systems has already arranged for her onward sale. She was ferried to Kemble on 7 March. Blue1 will add a second CityJet RJ85 in May.
