Australia’s Cobham Aviation Services will continue to operate a twice weekly passenger service from Perth to Christmas Island and the Cocos (Keeling) Islands. Cobham had been due to fly its last service on the route on 28 March, after which SkyAirWorld would have taken over with Embraer 190s. However, SkyAirWorld suspended operations just days after it was announced that it had won the contract. At first the airline insisted it would begin the Christmas Island services as planned, but its E-Jets were repossessed by the lessors putting an end to that plan. The Australian federal government was thus forced to ask Cobham to continue operating the route. Cobham uses Avro RJ70 VH-NJT (msn E1228) on the route.
