Woodford factory to close

BAE Systems has announced that it will close its Woodford factory, where Avro RJs were once built. With the end of Avro RJ production and the imminent completion of the Nimrod MRA4 program, the company no longer has any work for the plant. An estimated 630 jobs will be lost when the plant closes. In addition to the Avro RJ, the Woodford plant built the legendary Lancaster and Vulcan bombers, the 748 and ATP, and many other types.
