TCAS upgrade for BAe 146s and Avro RJs approved by EASA

The European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has approved BAE Systems Regional Aircraft’s modification upgrading TCAS installations on Europe-based BAe 146s and Avro RJs to the new TCAS 7.1 standard. All aircraft flying in European airspace must meet the new standard from 1 December 2015. In some cases, the upgrade requires replacing the TCAS computer; in others, it can be implemented through a software upgrade. Swiss has already purchased and installed the upgrade on its Avro RJ100s, as has TNT on the 146QTs operated by its subsidiaries TNT Airways and Pan Air Líneas Aéreas.
