Venezuela’s LaMia has shifted its base of operations from Mérida to Porlamar, on Isla Margarita, in the Caribbean. Its name has also changed correspondingly to Línea Aérea Margarita Internacional de Aviación, though the acronym LaMia remains the same. LaMia has been trying to begin operations with four former CityJet Avro RJ85s since 2011. It now hopes to begin operation in February 2014. On 2 November, RJ85 P4-LOR (msn E2348) operated a publicity flight to Ciudad Guyana, in the state of Bolivar (home of Venezuela’s main tourist attraction, Canaima National Park, site of Angel Falls). The airline’s three other RJ85s remain in storage at Norwich, painted in the airline’s full colors.
