London City was closed for more than an hour after a Swiss RJ100 developed engine problems on takeoff. RJ100 HB-IXX (msn E3262) had been preparing to depart from London City’s runway 9 on flight LX437 to Genève at 1500 local time. During spool-up, however, the number four engine emitted a loud bang and visible flames. The crew aborted the takeoff and evacuated the aircraft; three passengers suffered minor injuries during the evacuation. The runway was re-opened at 1615. The cause of the incident is being investigated.
