Australia’s Cobham Aviation Services has won a new four-year contract from Gold Fields Australia to operate fly-in, fly-out (FIFO) services. The contract calls for Cobham to operate six roundtrip flights a week to the gravel strips serving Gold Fields Australia’s Granny Smith and Darlot mining sites in Western Australia, both of which had hitherto been served by turboprops. To help service this contract, Cobham will shortly add its first Avro RJ85, which it will equip with a gravel kit.
