Air Madagascar abandons plan to lease Avro RJ85s

Air Madagascar has abandoned its plan to lease two Avro RJ85s to replace two Boeing 737-300s whose leases are expiring at the end of the year. The airline changed its mind after considering the cost of re-training its pilots and maintenance staff, none of whom have any experience with Avro RJs. Instead, Air Madagascar will add examples of types it already has in its fleet, namely ATR72s and Boeing 737s. The company had already taken delivery of two new ATR72-600s at the beginning of the year.
